In order to identify iPad, iPod, iPod Touch and iPhone and read their contents, your PC needs the corresponding drivers. Normally your PC is provided with the adequate drivers, when iTunes is installed.

If, for some reasons (lack of speed, file size, old system or PC …), you don’t want to install iTunes on your system, you can get the drivers as described below:

  • Download the file „iTunesSetup.exe“ from the Apple web page
  • Open the file with WinRAR
  • In the folder you will find some files containing „AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi” and “QuickTimes.msi”
  • Extract both files and install them on your computer

After the successful installation of both files (above all – AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi) you can connect your iPod/ iPhone and it should be recognized correctly. You can now run and manage your iPad, iPod and iPhone without iTunes by using iTunes alternatives or iPod managers.
